"Peace, Malcolm believed, was a waste of of time. He told folks that black Americans had to fight for what they wanted-and they needed to defend themselves against the cruelty of white oppression 'by any means necessary'."
Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925. In 1946, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for larceny and breaking and entering. While incarcerated he became a Black Muslim. When he got out he formed a relationship with the leader of the Black Muslims which eventually soured. He played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement by demanding equality with little regard for the non-violence movement. He received many death threats in his last days and was assassinated on February 21, 1965 by Black Muslims.
