Impact and Signifigance
There has been much success in the Civil Rights Movement, past and present. Some of that success is due to the Second Amendment, especially in the earlier history of the movement. One of the main goals in the early civil rights fight was to enable black people to vote.
The Second Amendment helped groups like the the Deacons for Defense protect voter registration volunteers from the KKK and similar organizations. Increased black voter registration resulted in stronger black voting results. As years passed their voting power increased. It seems unlikely that we would have a black president today if not for the protection provided by the Second Amendment to early voter registration workers.
